PHILOSOPHY

A horse is an amazing animal that can help us to become a better person.Through the relationship we can teach each other patience, consistency, understanding, and most important of all--trust.

Chris believes this foundation of trust to be based on three things:

  1. RESPECT: The horse sees us as leader, and we are a good leader.
  2. COMMUNICATION: We listen to the horse and the horse listens to us.
  3. CONFIDENCE: The horse is not fearful and we are not fearful.

To establish trust with our horses in these three categories, we have to have a feel for the principles and methods behind having a relationship with a horse. These principles and methods are based on the horse and how it thinks, learns, and communicates.

Understanding How Horses
Think and Learn.
Safety For You and the Horse
Patience and Consistancy.
Notice the Slightest Try.
The Horse is Never Wrong.
Always Laugh and Have Fun.

Blending and Guiding.

Advance and Retreat.
Make the Right Thing Comfortable
and the Wrong Thing Uncomfortable.
Desensitization.
Soft Feel and Timing.

Through understanding horses based on the principles above and through communicating with them based on the methods above, we can develop a bond that will just grow and grow, and over time, lead to many amazing things.

The idea is to communicate with the horse in a way that unlocks their true confidence, pride, and grace within themselves. To be their guide in a relationship that they can trust, in a relationship that they choose to be a part of.

To not take anything away from the spirit of the horse, but to create a friendship that allows it to shine.
